A couple of years ago I came across a brilliant thinker called Austin Kleon. He has an awesome email list (which you can join HERE). It’s a mix of stuff he’s created, listened to, read that week or found online, super inspiring.
He did a TEDx talk…
I continually go back to his books, they are simple and inspiring, always find something new to bring to whatever project I’m working on. The first one is ‘Steal Like An Artist‘ which is 10 points exploring the creative process. My favourite section is on separating your digital and analogue work to different sides of the desk. I split my desk in this way when I worked at Lee Abbey and it was good to take a break from the screen and do something practical.
The follow up is ‘Show Your Work!: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Getting Discovered‘ which focuses on sharing not only your work but your process. I have tried to share my creative process ever since reading it. He has just released ‘Keep Going‘ which follows the same format.
Well worth following this guy if you are in any sort of creative industry or want to be inspired to share your creative process.
